Did you know the canals of Amsterdam are full of wildlife?

Did you know the canals of Amsterdam are full of wildlife? The exhibition Animals of the Canals in 'het Grachtenmuseum' (The Museum of the Canels) introduces you to various canal residents. Meet the noisy neighbour (the parakeet), the flaneur (the mute swan), and the world traveler (the eel). Discover their stories, see the animals up close, and learn about their world.
For this exhibition – and those to come – we created sustainable, reusable furniture designed to adapt to many different settings. The modular system can be assembled and taken apart with ease, and rebuilt in countless configurations. The pedestals and panels are painted in fresh, vibrant colors that playfully contrast with the classic interior, golden details, and rich fabrics of the rooms. Some pedestals even invite interaction, drawing visitors in. Overhead, banners transform the space into both an ‘underwater’ and an ‘above-water’ world, setting the stage for the animals and objects on display. The information panels are brimming with stories to read, watch, and listen to, allowing visitors to dive deeper into the lives of the animals.

Het Parool:
“The combination of the chic and historical interior and nature is proving successful. The concrete ‘fish hotel’ contrasts beautifully with the classic chandelier above it, while a stuffed heron stands gracefully next to an antique mirror.”
