Pop Art asks for a a bold and flashy book design.

Advertisements, comic strips, bold colours – and women. These are defining elements of Pop Art in the 1960s and 1970s. The role of women in Pop Art was twofold. They embodied a stereotypical ideal, while also emerging as symbols of liberation. Women were both supermodels and role models.
In addition to the exhibition of the same name, Mayra & Sam also designed the catalog, which contains all the artworks and accompanying essays. Just like the exhibition, we carried the Pop Art style throughout the publication. Bold typography based on comic strips, flashy and vibrant colors matching the colors of the exhibition, and spherical duotone images that bring the pop art world to life. Even in materiality, the slightly puffy cover and compact format contribute to a Pop Art look.
